Hey guys, as of now, and LME aluminum has just hit $3,140.90 per tonne (up 0.68% yesterday alone, +6.56% this month, +19.38% year-on-year)! This is the highest level in years, and it’s pushing forged and cast alloy wheel costs through the roof.
Why is aluminum still exploding?
- Global supply shortages (China production cuts + high energy costs)
- Insane demand from EV lightweighting, aerospace, construction, and solar
- US tariffs on aluminum still at 50%+, driving up imported billet costs
- No sign of cooling – Goldman Sachs, JPMorgan, and Citi all raised 2026 targets to $5,000–$5,400/oz wait no, per tonne!
For us wheel lovers: aluminum makes up 85-90% of an alloy wheel’s material cost. Every $100 rise in aluminum = $30–$80 extra per wheel (depending on size and forging level). Factories have already announced 8-15% price hikes starting Feb/March 2026. Popular 19″-22″ forged sets that were SGD 3,800–5,500 last month will easily jump SGD 500–1,000+ per set soon.

Inventory is flying out the door – many hot styles (concave forged, multi-spoke, lightweight flow-form) are already low stock or on factory backorder till April.
Here are some killer wheels that look insane and are still at old pricing (for now):

LARTE Design custom forged for BMW X6M – aggressive fitment, carbon accents available.

Lamborghini Countach LP800 style forged – pure insanity on any Huracan/Urus.

Deep-dish white chrome 2-piece forged – classic muscle or widebody JDM vibe.
